PRECAST & PRESTRESSED CONCRETE

Product overview

Prestressed beams and soffits are designed to complement the available flooring products. Utilizing the standard form sections will generally provide a more economical solution. The use of prestressing for these products assists with section depth, performance, and often eliminates the need for shoring.

Inverted “T” beams should be considered any time a Double Tee system is being used. This reduces both shoring and forming demands. “Standard” and “Lite” ITB sections are available to suit project needs and should be selected based on the DT and ITB spans, load conditions and erection considerations.

Design & detailing notes

  • The standard 30ITB and 22LB sheets describe common spans of 20 to 40 ft when supporting standard products; greater spans require special design considerations.
  • Lite sections are intended for appropriate load/span combinations and supported floor systems, such as shallower tee sections or Dynacore products.
  • Section properties are provided for standard units and composite units. The top of beam is typically held below the supported floor product for framing.
  • The ITR drawing covers inverted T-beam and L-beam reinforcing, end bearing and pull-up bars. Project design determines bearing plates and additional reinforcement.
  • Rectangular and soffit beams are generally designed for shored construction. Confirm available forms, depth, width and span with GPRM.
